About Us

History

We reflected on our lives here as migrant nurses. Most of us received our nursing training education at Effia-Nkwanta Hospital, Sekondi-Ghana or worked as nurses in the Western Region. Prior to establishing the association, it was evident that we had transformed our lives and careers.

In June 2013, Ms. Helen Botchway (Odo) of blessed memory championed a campaign for an association to bring us together to illuminate our sense of belonging which subsequently birthed Sekondi-Takoradi Association of Nurses (STAN-UK) now WRAN- U.K.

WRAN-UK shares a welcoming and fulfilling fraternity aimed at supporting members and giving back to society especially our alma mater now Nurses & Midwifery Training School (NMTC), Sekondi, Ghana.

I have been a member of WRAN-UK for 6 years, being an active Executive and a member has been motivated by the ethos of the association and the various achievements we have made and continue to make. The love friendship respect and family- like attitude of members gives one a sense of belonging and comfort in happy times as well as sad times.

WRAN UK has broadened my scope of leadership and network with other associations and acquaintances; most especially in the context of Diaspora and Ghanaian community affairs. Interactions of WRAN-UK members has contributed positively and proved successful especially for career development and advancement as well as revalidation of professional registration.

Being a foundation member of WRAN, I have benefitted hugely from the association. When I lost my dad and mum, WRAN has been there to comfort and support me. In times when I have been ill, WRAN has always been there to comfort and console me. WRAN is like a family to me.
